WITH HATE CRIMES LAW IS ANTI-CHRISTIAN BIGOTRY
In our continuing effort to represent Values Voters views in the public arena, I released the following news release to the national press. You will see a quote from the Washington Post, which was released yesterday as well.
The following press release was issued on October 29th by Vision America Action.
True to his campaign promises to advance the radical homosexual agenda, President Barack Obama celebrated his latest legislative victory over Judeo-Christian morality yesterday in a public signing ceremony of the hate crimes law, which was passed earlier this week after being repeatedly rejected by Congress over the past decade.
Dr. Rick Scarborough of Vision America Action declared: "This is a sad day for America. While small minorities of homosexual activists are celebrating, thousands of pastors, priests and rabbis are lamenting their loss of First Amendment freedoms. I for one refuse to bow before this unjust and unconstitutional law, and I intend to continue to preach the whole counsel of God as revealed in Scripture.
Scarborough observed: "It's interesting that while the signing ceremony was public, the bill was passed in the dead of night, hidden away in a totally unrelated appropriations bill to fund the war on terror. The reason is quite clear: Most Americans understand that this legislation is wrong for our nation by granting protected-minority status to a lifestyle choice which, many of us feel, is reprehensible. At the same time, it criminalizes Christianity, attacks religious freedom and stifles free speech."
"Because this law punishes thoughts as well as deeds, for the first time in American jurisprudence, Lady Justice will have to lift her blindfold and try to look into the minds of men to assess their motivation."
Scarborough charged: "Increasingly, the Obama administration acts like the San Francisco city council. In his speech before the Human Rights Campaign, our president said he looked forward to the day when the "relationships between two men or two women are just as real and admirable as a relationship between a man and a woman." His administration is staffed by the likes of Safe Schools Czar Kevin Jennings, who admitted that he once advised a 15-year-old boy to continue to have sex with a man he met in a public restroom. By attacking the Defense of Marriage Act, the president has announced his intention to legally de-construct marriage in the United States."
Scarborough concluded: "At Vision America Action, we are as determined to uphold Biblical truth as the president is to advance the homosexual agenda."
COVERAGE IN THE WASHINGTON POST
I was quoted extensively in an October 29th story in The Washington Post ("After 10-year Dispute, Expansion of Hate Crimes Law to Gays Signed.")
The quote came at the end of the story:
"But Rick Scarborough, head of the Texas-based conservative group Vision America, which has long opposed the hate crimes legislation, said there may be little Republicans can do to stop further gay rights legislation.
'I think they (bills that would expand gay rights) are morally wrong, and I'll continue to do my best to enter the debate,' he said. 'But it's a new day. These are promises of Barack Obama, and he's going to live up to them.'"
I was not suggesting that there's nothing we can do to counter this war on Christianity, marriage and normalcy. I continue to believe that we must do everything in our power to oppose this evil. Victories for marriage in referenda in Maine and Washington State on Tuesday could make Congressmen think twice about defying the will of the people here. The hate crimes law was a battle. The war continues.
I am an ordained minister who pastors a local congregation while leading three national organizations, two of which specifically targets Pastors with the message that they must stand for righteousness in the public arena. The third effort is a "STOP Obama" national conference call and call to action, which connects national political and organizational leaders with activists around the country for the purpose of educating the nation as to the radical agenda of the present occupiers of the White House.
I need your help to continue this battle. Our staff gets more out of less than any organization in the movement. We need thousands of Patriot Partners who will stand with us each month.
