Obama's Border Security Plan: More Desk Jobs!

Barack Obama sure knows how to send a message regarding border security. Too bad it's the wrong message. At a time when Arizonans and other border state residents are more concerned with border security than ever, Obama has not only decided to attack the new Arizona law and challenge it in court, but he has also decided to make a token gesture at security by sending National Guard troops who will mostly sit at desks.
After increasing public pressure to actually do something regarding the southern border, and probably some analysis that his approval rating is falling, Obama decided to sound "tough" on border security by announcing he would send 1,200 troops to the US-Mexico border.
The National Guard troops will work on intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance support, analysis and training, and support efforts to block drug trafficking. They will temporarily supplement border patrol agents until Customs and Border Protection can recruit and train additional officers and agents to serve on the border, an administration official said.
