Just how far has America fallen?

In looking for a topic for today's column, I was stunned by the fact that there were so many choices. Outrageous stories abound and dominate the airwaves, newspapers, and home pages of media web sites. And so, I realized that THE story of the day isn't one of these. It's all of these. Isn't it sad to see just how messed up our country has become?
First, no column would be complete if it failed to mention the fall of Anthony Weiner. After several weeks of trying to ride out the storm, Weiner resigned on Thursday. The story didn't go away as he had hoped, mostly because with each passing day, more and more pictures emerged. Finally, when photos were released of him grabbing himself in the congressional gym, even his Democrat colleagues had had enough.
